This gallery details making custom tail lights for Vicky starting with 48-51 Hudson housings and lenses. Everybody uses '39 Ford tail lights, but I wanted to break away from the crowd...
Started with '48-51 Hudson Tail Light housings, cut down to fit straight fender...
Had to modify the backing plate to remove hump for installation of LED units...
Went from rough housing to clean... to cutting off the hump... to adding filler plate... to weld in upper mount...
The LED units from Lambert Enterprises mount and work very well....
Backing plates have been painted and LED units installed...
Rubber gaskets cut... try to cut out rubber shapes freehand! It doesn't work. I used a secret method...
Off, Tail, Stop... Hand built new blue crystals from acrylic for the blue dots...
Should look something like this when installed, except have the gasket in place...
